This summer, GEM has sent a number of people on short-term trips to Cologne, Edinburgh, Athens, and London – with more to come!
Through our TREK program, we’ve sent one team to Cologne, Germany and one to Edinburgh, Scotland. Between the two teams, there are nine young adults total (six in Cologne and three in Edinburgh). The team in Edinburgh has been partnering with local organizations to embody the Gospel in the local community through the development of a nonprofit organization. The Cologne team has been involved in street ministry and they are pleased to report that not a day goes by without sharing the Gospel! Team members have also been ministering in other ways such as engaging locals while attending soccer games and visiting coffee shops. (Read a brief report from the Cologne team HERE.)
Our Athens Immigrant Ministry has welcomed the first short-term team of 12 interns who have been trained and are now serving in the city. Last we heard, a number of immigrants had come to know the Lord since that team arrived! In London, GEM is sending 350+ people to partner with local churches in reaching their community as that city swells with people from every country in the world during the Olympics. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for this diverse city and the churches are taking advantage of it. Activities will include everything from evangelism to childcare to volunteering in community-wide festivities for families.
Please pray that these teams will boldly share the Gospel through their actions and words. If you would like to get involved in our short-term trips or want more information, click here.
