Andorra
 |
Capital: Andorra la Vella Border Countries: France, Spain |
This beautiful, mountainous country is easily overlooked on world maps, being just 2.5 times the size of Washington, D.C. Each year Andorra draws 11.6 million tourists who come for skiing, hiking, spas, and duty-free shopping. About 2,000 North Africans, mostly Muslims, have immigrated to the country, drawn by the thriving economy. Andorra's Roman Catholic church has more than 70,000 members—about 90% of the population—and half of them are actively involved in congregations. many Andorrans see the church as important only for rites of passage such as baptism, frist communion, and marriage. Less than one percent of the people follow Christ.

Praise the lord that three evangelical churches have been established in Andorra, where no churches existed in the past. Many of the believers in Andorra are immigrants, though some nationals have accepted Christ as their Savior. Most of the Andorran nationals have businesses in Andorra but live in Catalonia, Spain since they speak Catalan and aren't required to pay taxes. These Andorrans have the chance to hear about Christ through Catalonian believers. If they started to follow Jesus, they could make a great impact in Andorra since they control the country.
Andorra's booming economy has slowed recently due to the construction businsess hitting a ceiling. Country leaders have recognized that the people need to make adjustments to maintain financial viability, and this is challenging for the individualistic people of Andorra. As centuries-long practices change, the people will become more open to spiritual realities. This is the time for pioneering missionaries to build relationships with those who don't know Christ. Additionally, Andorra is a key place to reach out to the many North African immigrants, most of whom are Muslims. Because two-thirds of Andorra's population comes from other countries, this is truly a place to touch the world for Christ.
- Pray that Andorran believers will openly share their faith.
- Pray that the evangelical churches in Andorra will have a vision to creatively reach out to other Andorrans and immigrants with God's love.
- Pray that people will recognize the emptiness of materialism and that God's Spirit will draw them to Himself for true fulfillment.
- Ask God to break the stronghold that occult practices have on many Andorrans. Pray that they will turn to Christ for answers.
