I Have Prayed
Poland
Poland Capital: Warsaw
Border Countries: Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast), Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovokia, Czech Republic, Gemany
Poland has been rated the most religious country in the European Union, its people professing allegiance to Roman Catholicism. Yet a recent opinion poll shows that less than one percent of Poles value faith as necessary for a successful life. The evangelical community is small; less than 0.1 percent of Poles are members of evangelical churches. In a country of 40 million people, there is one evangelical church for every 75,000 people. Although church tradition still holds a significant place in family and cultural life, fewer and fewer people are drawing real-life application from these traditions.

Many Poles are searching for some kind of spiritual reality. Some are expressing a desire to know God more deeply; to know His Word and how it applies to their lives. While many Poles struggle with materialism, people in some sectors of society have realized that things don't fix life's problems. While still few in number, Polish evangelicals are becoming more aware that they need to reach out to their communities and to the world with Christ's love. At a recent youth conference, several young people committed to becoming missionaries. These believers and many more like them are the hope for the future of the Gospel in Poland.
Believers in Poland know that God wants to touch the hearts and lives of Poles. Great opportunities exist to minister to Polish students at universities. Poles of all ages want to know if God is relevant to their daily lives. Opportunities to participate in outreach among the homeless, drug addicts, and dysfunctional families are all viable and much-needed ministries that North Americans can get involved in by partnering with Polish Christians. Church planting and discipleship ministries are having great success currently, but more workers for the harvest are needed. The doors are openare you being called to make a difference in Poland?
  1. Pray that God will call more workers to Poland. Poland has the fewest number of missionaries per capita (followed by Pakistan).
  2. Pray that Polish evangelicals will grow in their desire to reach society by meeting felt needs and ministering creatively.
