Germany

Capital: Berlin Border Countries: Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luzembourg, Belgium, Netherlands |
When many Christians think of Germany,
Martin Luther and the Reformation come
to mind. While Germany, the world's fifth
largest economy, desperately needs a
witnessing evangelical presence. Many
middle-aged and older Germans have
given up on the traditional Church, and
young people believe that the Church's
teachings are irrelevant. Yet Germans
of all ages are looking for answers, and
they are open to God. The nation faces
the challenges of high unemployment
(13 percent in some areas), a declining
birthrate (-0.02 percent), and increased
immigration (immigrants make up 8.8
percent of Germany's total population).

The God of Luther, Zwingli, and Calvin is still in control, and He has not abandoned the people of Germany. His love and calling supersedes the lure of materialism and secular humanism. His call, His longing, can draw discontented Germans away from their empty beliefs and into a spirit of questioning. When people begin to question the reality of the world they live in, God is always there to provide answers. God's Word promises that when people seek
Him, they will find Him. The great hope of Germany is that those who seek the Lord will find Him.
Many opportunities exist in Germany to minister to younger generations who have experienced the emptiness of materialism and seek answers and meaning in their lives. Church-planting teams are needed to start nontraditional house gatherings of believers in all the major cities of Germany.
- Pray that believing Germans will develop an increased passion to reach out to unsaved fellow citizens and that God will raise up more German believers to start new churches.
- Pray that God will anoint the creative outreaches that evangelical Christians are doing across the country.
