What comes to mind when you think of Ireland? For many the answer
would be green fields across rolling hills, quaint cottages, staunch Roman
Catholicism, or even sectarian violence. Today these images are gradually
being replaced in a rapidly
changing environment. Ireland is growing more diverse by the
day, as a booming economy has seen this small country of
just over 4 million people becoming a haven to many asylum seekers from other
countries.
Once-deserted country lanes have become dangerous routes now crowded with
speeding vehicles that many people were once too impoverished to
afford. Road deaths occur at a rate greater than one per day.
But what is more frightening is the spiritual climate. Within one
generation, Ireland has been largely transformed from a devoutly religious
country to a secular European society with a prevailing
postmodern mindset.
Yet it is in this generation that Ireland has seen significant
renewal in the evangelical church. Recent statistics show that
the evangelical population has grown more in the past 10 to 20 years than
in the past 130 years.
It is in this climate that we seek to work together with like-minded
believers to see God continue a movement of the development of
dynamic fellowships and churches across Ireland! If
you have a heart for the harvest - and for the Irish - please join us!
