The GEM team in Spain is concentrated in Catalunya, the northeastern province of Spain. Through various ministries, the goal is to disciple the peoples of Spain through rapidly reproducing churches. With this in mind, workers are involved in church partnership, music ministry, a Bible institute, camping, and evangelism through social ministries. 

The Catholic Church in Spain is in serious crisis due to its loss of members and the widespread mistrust of it as an institution. This has had a demoralizing effect. The spiritual vacuum is being filled by secularism, materialism, cults, drugs, and gambling.

Yet Spaniards are slowly but steadily turning to Christ. The number of Protestant church members has increased from 6,000 in 1932 to 96,000 in 2000. These churches are concentrated in Madrid, Barcelona, and the province of Andalucia.

A vision for the future and for leadership training is needed, as is revival and greater cooperation between denominations in evangelism.
